The Sankofa Difference
Sankofa Wellness Project connects people of African descent to the shared joy, cultural heritage and ancestral traditions of the African Diaspora.
Through travel and cultural education, we seek to help heal the enduring wounds of the Transatlantic Slave Trade by repairing relationships across the African Diaspora, strengthening our collective identity and imagining a restored future together—as what the African Union calls the “Sixth Region.”
Rooted in the Ghanaian Adinkra concept of Sankofa—symbolized by a bird moving forward while looking back to gather the wisdom of the past—our experiences invite you to honor our collective history, learn from it and carry that wisdom forward to enrich our lives, our communities and the world.
